FOREWORD BY FESTIVAL BOARD
Film festivals have always played a vital role in the growth of cinema, both nationally and globally.
They are spaces where ideas, experiences, and aspirations converge and are shared. In the post-pandemic years, the enthusiasm of Indonesian audiences has continued to rise, and we remain committed to creating opportunities for a new generation of filmmakers to shine.
As a meeting point for diverse stakeholders, Jakarta Film Week continues to strengthen the film ecosystem through initiatives such as Jakarta Film Fund and Movielab, which nurture emerging talents, as well as MTN x JFW NET–Industry Program, which builds professional capacity through the Producers Lab, Pitching Forum, MTN Lab, Masterclass, Producers Network, Industry Talks, Festival Meeting, and Talents Hub.
Beyond its competitions, the festival also presents curated showcases — Emergency Broadcast, highlighting global issues; Herstory, centered on women’s narratives; and Fantasea and Classique, featuring selected popular and classic films.
This year, Jakarta Film Week 2025 once again captivates audiences with outstanding works that have achieved international recognition, serving as a vital platform where filmmakers, film lovers, and creative communities come together to connect, collaborate, and inspire one another.
Let us celebrate Jakarta Film Week 2025 — embracing the magic of cinema with joy, creativity, and enthusiasm. Enjoy the festival!

Jakarta Film Week has witnessed the remarkable growth of Indonesian film production from 2021 to the present. This growth marks an important moment in mapping the ecosystem of Indonesian cinema. The generation of filmmakers emerging in this era has grown alongside the diversity of accessible screening and learning platforms. This generation is also expected to contribute to maintaining a healthy climate in production, post-production, and distribution spaces.
Although Indonesia’s film industry has shown rapid development, challenges such as equitable distribution across regions, improving production quality, and supporting independent films still require attention. Film festivals, as one of the means to help map the industry, play a vital role in the growth of filmmakers through various aspects: creativity, professionalism, networking, and exposure—both domestically and internationally.
Between 2021 and 2025, Indonesia’s film industry has shown a positive trend, with increases in production volume, quality, and audience appreciation. Through continuous innovation and collaboration, the industry is expected to keep growing and contribute positively to Indonesia’s culture and economy.
