Claresta Taufan began her career far from the world of film. She was first known as a karate athlete who successfully joined Indonesia’s national team before eventually following her heart into the world of acting.
This transition soon bore fruit. Her performance in Pangku (2025) earned Claresta her first accolade, the Rising Star Award, at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival. In the same year, her latest film The Period of Her (2025) is set to premiere at Jakarta World Cinema 2025, followed by Abadi Nan Jaya (2025), while Maryam (2025) has officially been released in cinemas since September 18.
Claresta’s success brings a fresh spark to Indonesia’s film industry, proving that many new voices continue to emerge, keeping the light of Indonesian cinema alive, enduring, and ready to compete on the global stage.
