FOREWORD BY VICE GOVERNOOR OF SPECIAL CAPITAL REGION OF JAKARTA
This year, Jakarta once again welcomes filmmakers and film professionals from Indonesia and around the world through Jakarta Film Week—a space for encounters, creativity, and collaboration. With the theme “Encounters”, we are invited to create opportunities for meaningful encounters, exchange ideas, and inspire the creation of new works.
Jakarta aspires to become a City of Cinema. It will not be easy, but I believe this can be achieved within the next five years. Jakarta Film Week is part of this journey, alongside efforts to expand public access to film and develop spaces for film appreciation such as Jaksinema.
Through this festival, we also create opportunities for emerging talents to grow and expand their networks internationally. The Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to supporting the strengthening of the film ecosystem through collaboration with industry professionals and communities.
May Jakarta Film Week 2026 continue to strengthen Jakarta as a City of Cinema and become a space for encounters that foster new works and emerging talents.
