Johan (20) and Mama (39) reside in a run down crocodile park, their sanctuary. Johan’s father is nowhere to be seen, but Mama called a white crocodile in the park as Johan’s father. Mama shields Johan from the outside world. With the appearance of a young girl, Arumi (23), the balance in Johan and Mama’s relationship becomes shaky. Mama disapproved of the relationship, and her dissent manifests in peculiar behavior.
Tumpal Tampubolon is a Jakarta-based filmmaker and cinephile-turned-writer/director. A Math graduate from Bandung Institute of Technology, he won JiFFest’s 2005 Script Development Competition for The Last Believer, marking his first filmmaking experience. He later wrote and directed shorts screened at festivals worldwide. Selected for the 2007 Asian Young Filmmakers Forum in Jeonju, he made Drum Lesson, then joined Berlinale Talent Campus (2009) and Asian Film Academy Busan (2010). He co-directed the omnibus Belkibolang (2010), shown in Rotterdam, Hong Kong, Jeonju, and Udine. In 2014, he won the Citra Award for Best Original Screenplay (Tabula Rasa). In 2017, he co-wrote 212 Warrior, adapted from a bestselling martial arts series, produced by Fox International Productions and LifeLike Pictures.
