Joel Jefferson was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. Since 2019, he has been an active director and writer in the film industry. Joel has produced three notable short films: Bereavement (2022), Jelujur (2023), and Enigma (2023). He also created a vertical short film on TikTok titled Washout (2024). He has worked as a
2nd assistant director on the feature film project Buto Ijo (2025) and on the Djarum Series advertisement titled Kami Memohon (2024). Joel continues to be actively involved in creating short films, contributing to the evolution of contemporary cinema.
