In Bali, guesthouse owner Tusar is blindsided by the sudden death of Sarah, a tourist staying at his place. Desperate to protect the reputation of his business, he buries her body beneath the floor and masks the stench with sacred Taru Menyan branches, stolen from a remote island bound by an ancient curse: nothing may leave its shores, or disaster will follow. That night, Tusar opened the door for the curse to enter.
Daphne identifies herself as a person who is constantly curious about humans and learns them through a phenomenon called loss. For the last 5 years she has made several short films as well as involved in wellknown feature film productions. Now she is working as a freelance director and assistant director. Her short films, 'Happy New Year' (2022), 'And Returning' (2019), and 'Mother' (2018) were well distributed and received positive responses from audiences. She has completed two film incubator programs: FLY2023 and Platform BUSAN 2024. Her latest short films, 'The Eleventh Body' and 'A Tale of Two Nomads' (2025), are currently being distributed.
