After claiming to have seen a mysterious bright light in the middle of the night, Kholik tries to convince his family and friends that he witnessed a UFO, not a bad omen such as pulung gantung. As he searches for evidence that never seems to appear, Kholik’s belief is tested against reason, myth, and a reality that remains uncertain.
Mandella’s career behind the lens took root in 2009, honing his craft in the camera department on feature films including Humba Dreams, Serendipity, Sakaratul Maut, Jalan Pulang, and Waktu Magrib. Since 2017, he has been actively working as a cinematographer for feature films and streaming series. Seeking to tell stories from a new perspective, Mandella stepped into the director’s chair in 2024 for his debut short film, Kholik a project initiated through a pitching forum organized by the Cultural Office of Yogyakarta and completed in 2025.
