The first amongst her friends to hit puberty, Zaffan, 12, discovers a terrifying secret about her body. Ostracised by her community, Zaffan fights back and learns that to be free, she must embrace the body she feared, emerging as a proud, strong woman.
Amanda graduated from the London Film School with an MA in Filmmaking and is an alumna of Berlinale Talents and Locarno Filmmakers Academy. Her short film Lagi Senang Jaga Sekandang Lembu premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival. The film has continued to travel and win awards in many other international festivals, including a Special Mention at the International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand. Her following short film, Vinegar Baths, has also won several awards in festivals, including Best Picture at the Scream Asia Horror Short Film Competition. Tiger Stripes is her debut feature film.
