Sonia K. Hadad is an Iranian writer and director. Born in Tehran, she studied Film and Media Arts (M.F.A.) at Emerson College in Boston. In 2009, she graduated from the Azad University of Art and Architecture in Tehran with a B.A. in Theatre and Dramatic Literature. The writing of short stories for youth magazines led her to her primary interest: writing for film. Having moved to the United States in 2013, Sonia began producing for the film industry, as well as editing TV series and making short films. The Box (2016), Personal (2017), Exam (2019) and File (2022) are her four short films. Exam was selected in more than 150 film festivals and it was qualified for The Academy Awards.
