An elderly Malaysian-Tamil couple discovers their male goat, set for ceremonial slaughter, is pregnant. Torn between faith and the expectations of their community, they struggle to decide whether to slaughter it or face the wrath of the gods.
Ananth Subramaniam is a Malaysian filmmaker of Tamil descent and co-founder of Idio Sync Inc, a production house developing Tamil culture-infused stories. His work explores ancestral identity and family through multi-layered genres. He holds an MA in Filmmaking from Kingston University London and participated in Locarno Open Doors and Southeast Asian Film Lab. His films include The House of Brick and Stone, which premiered at Fantasia and BIFAN, and Liar Land, which received a Special Mention at Locarno. He is developing his debut feature, The Passport, supported by Berlinale Talents Tokyo, Cine Qua Non Lab, SGIFF’s Asian Producers Network, and Full Circle Lab.
