Programs Fringe Events
The world is not doing well. The films in this program were selected in response to today’s global condition and lived realities—connecting threads of time, diverse perspectives, and regions divided by seas and rivers. The program aims to broadcast voices from different corners of the world and to spark dialogue after each screening.
Across the six films shown, a shared theme emerges: violence.
In the local context, this manifests in various forms—cyber sexual violence; repression against cultural or political groups that has shifted into criminal threats toward academics, artists, and journalists who expose corruption; the camera as a continuing tool of resistance; and the forms of repression that unfold when indigenous lands are seized and seas are polluted by capital owners.
These unresolved conditions persist globally. Beyond nurturing anger and resistance, what alternative solutions can we imagine and pursue together?
This discussion invites everyone to share their experiences, reflections, and perspectives.
