The Pitching Forum, part of the JFW Net initiative, made its debut at Jakarta Film Week 2024. Held on October 26, 2024, at the Mercure Hotel in Cikini, Jakarta, this event provides a platform for film projects to establish collaborations with industry stakeholders, encompassing areas from production to distribution.
The Pitching Forum plays a critical role in the industry ecosystem by not only facilitating connections between projects and potential collaborators but also serving as a venue for talent to hone their skills, knowledge, and potential in film production.
Jakarta Film Week 2024 showcased several selected film projects currently in development, each demonstrating strong market potential. These projects were introduced to stakeholders open to exploring partnerships, including funding, co-production, sales, and distribution. The Pitching Forum also received support from the Directorate of Media, Music, and Film, Ministry of Culture.
The event featured three judges: Thomas Nam, Edwin Nazir, and Jakarta Film Week representative Gayatri Nadia. Two moderators, Vivian Idris (Jakarta Film Week Festival Council) and Lorna Tee (Secretary-General, Asian Film Alliance Network), led the sessions.
Eight selected film projects were given 14 minutes each to present. The format included a 14-minute “artist talk” session between the pitching participant and the moderator, where key questions guided the discussion. This was followed by a 1-on-1 session, allowing invited guests to engage with projects that captured their interest.

Moving forward, these selected projects will also have the opportunity to apply for grants, such as the Development Grant and Talent Development Grant from the Directorate of Film, Music, and Media and the Directorate of National Talent Management, Ministry of Culture.
