Ninh lives with his mother and misses his ex-wife Ngoc and their young children. In his work as a mechanic who installs decibel meters in public spaces and homes, Ninh observes the silence that haunts relationships. Wishing for his parents, who live apart and do not speak to each other, to reconcile, his fear of losing connection to his loved ones forces Ninh to face life’s unpredictable rhythms.
Lê Bo's interest in cinema began when he was a little boy looking through the small window of his house that sits by a river in Saigon. In his youth, he watched foreign films on his computer and became a self-trained filmmaker who made his first short film with a borrowed camera. His short films and his debut feature, Taste were shot with non-professional actors in the places he has known all his life. Hearing is his ode to the people and places he loves.
