This question became the central theme of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Road to Jakarta Film Week x Faculty of Film and Television, Jakarta Institute of the Arts (FFTV IKJ)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFrom Idea to Screen: How to Pitch Your Story through a Film Funding Program,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> successfully held at Gedung Sjumandjaja, Jakarta Institute of the Arts (IKJ).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event, held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, featured two speakers \u2014 <\/span><b>Evi Cecilia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (producer of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ringroad<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and <\/span><b>Novi Hanabi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Program Manager of Jakarta Film Week) \u2014 and was moderated by <\/span><b>Andro Putranto<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Film Programmer of Jakarta Film Week).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Road to Jakarta Film Week<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a series of pre-festival activities aimed at building enthusiasm, expanding program outreach, and providing a learning platform for the film ecosystem. The series includes discussions and film screenings held at various locations leading up to the main festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaboration with film schools such as FFTV IKJ plays a key role in connecting young filmmakers with industry professionals and festival organizers. This allows emerging filmmakers to better prepare for opportunities offered by <\/span><b>Jakarta Film Week 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before the discussion began, participants were invited to watch several short films, including <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Samu the Terrible and His Sin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2024), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ringroad<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2021), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How an Apocalypse Ends<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2025), and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Followers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2024). These screenings provided real examples of how films born from funding competitions can develop and reach audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the sharing session, <\/span><b>Evi Cecilia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recounted the journey of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ringroad<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2021) \u2014 from its initial idea and pitching process at the <\/span><b>Jakarta Film Fund (JFF) 2021<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to production under tight deadlines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA pitch deck isn\u2019t just about technical data; it\u2019s about how we convey the soul of the story in a concise and captivating form,\u201d said Evi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She also emphasized the importance of building trust with the director and production team to bring a unified vision to life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, <\/span><b>Novi Hanabi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> explained JFF\u2019s role as an incubation platform for emerging talents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBy joining JFF, opportunities open up to enter the film industry. Don\u2019t see other participants as competitors\u2014they could become your future collaborators. From here, your career path can begin to unfold,\u201d said Novi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She added that a strong proposal doesn\u2019t have to be complicated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAn idea can be simple, but if it has a clear direction, it will stand out among hundreds of submissions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Novi also emphasized that the benefits of joining JFF go beyond production funding \u2014 participants gain access to festival networks, mentors, and broader distribution opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The discussion flowed warmly, with participants asking about pitching strategies, how to face juries during short presentations, and distribution options after film production. With a limited capacity of 50 participants, the event felt intimate, providing space for close interaction between the speakers and the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Road to Jakarta Film Week x FFTV IKJ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> successfully offered new insights for young filmmakers on the importance of pitching strategies and utilizing film funding programs.
