Jakarta Film Week has become a great forum for introducing Indonesian films to the international scene,\u201d he says. \u201cWe from the Ministry of Culture will support and facilitate the development of Indonesia\u2019s film industry, so that films become an integral part of our culture as well as an international diplomatic tool,\u201d he adds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Head of Tourism Industry of DKI Jakarta,<\/span><b> Iffan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, also praises the festival. \u201cJakarta Film Week can be summarized in two words: absolutely amazing. The audience have given us nothing less than their biggest welcome for the whole week. Seeing this, we can hope for a much more enthusiastic energy next year,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever since the festival\u2019s debut, there has been a steady increase in enthusiasm. It is no wonder that in this fourth year, film practitioners and cinephiles look forward to Jakarta Film Week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Rina Damayanti<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Festival Director, highlights the young crowd\u2019s enthusiasm towards Jakarta Film Week has grown. <\/span><b>\u201cThis year, we are seeing more than 6,000 visitors attending the festival during its five days, showing how important this space is for new generations to learn, watch, and find meaning in films,\u201d she explains.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>A Prestigious Awarding Ceremony at Jakarta Film Week 2024<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the opening ceremony of that night, the awarding ceremony makes a stage for achieved filmmakers in various categories, such as<\/span> <b><i>Global Feature Award, Global Short Award, Global Animation Award, Direction Award, Jakarta Film Fund Award, <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b><i> Series Of The Year.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Industrial applied programs also announce the awardees for the <\/span><b><i>Producers Lab<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>Pitching Forum<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The <\/b><b><i>Global Feature Award<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> falls to <\/span><b><i>Memories of a Burning Body<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><b>Antonella Sudasassi Furniss<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from Costa Rica and Spain. \u201cThis film connects the lived experience of a woman with cinematic courage to amplify a woman\u2019s voice in a world that seeks to stifle it. The judges have decided to award this film due to its powerful endeavor to touch its audience and encourage them to be reconnected with familial values,\u201d explains the team of judges, composed of Bradley Liew, Dominique Welinski and Silvia Wong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b><i>Jakarta Film Fund Award<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is given to <\/span><b><i>If You\u2019re Happy, I\u2019m Happy<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><b>Mauliya Maila<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from Indonesia. According to the judges, \u201cThis film is about a family drama with universal elements in a local context, complex but also told in a simple, beautiful manner. Judges have called this film an honest family drama and full of hope, able to touch its audience\u2019s hearts with a strong, yet down-to-earth approach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other than that, here are the other awardees at Jakarta Film Week 2024: <\/span><b><i>Global Short Award <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is won by<\/span> <b><i>An Orphanage of Memories<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; <\/span><b><i>Global Animation Award<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won by<\/span><b><i> It Shouldn\u2019t Rain Tomorrow<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; <\/span><b><i>Direction Award <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won by<\/span> <b><i>Yohanna<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; and<\/span> <b><i>Series of The Year<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won by<\/span> <b><i>Cinta Pertama Ayah<\/i><\/b><b>. <\/b><b><i>Special Mention<\/i><\/b> <b><i>Direction Award <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">falls to<\/span> <b><i>Suzzanna: The Queen of Black Magic.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year there have been <\/span><b><i>3 Selected Participants<\/i><\/b> <b><i>Producers Lab<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who will receive the opportunity to attend <\/span><b><i>Platform Busan<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>Busan International Film Festival 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b><i>Push Rank<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Producer: Andreas B. Sihombing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b><i>To My Dearest, My Dear<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Producer: Bela Nabila<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Resepsi Pertama Bapak<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Producer: Wildan Aji Gumelar<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b><i>Development Grant<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is awarded to the project <\/span><b><i>Father Figure<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which is produced by <\/span><b>Muhammad Athhar Amputra <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who will receive funding for their project\u2019s development. <\/span><b>Yulia Evina Bhara<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Tan Si En<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, mentors in Producers Lab, say, \u201cWe are seeing a growth in young producers today and how they\u2019ve flourished within the short amount of time. And the winner of this development grant is a young producer who innovatively engages with the theme of parent-child relationships.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the Producers Lab, the <\/span><b>Pitching Forum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> program, presented by the <\/span><b>Directorate of Film, Music, and Media of the Ministry of Culture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, also awarded five selected projects. Two selected projects received a <\/span><b>Development Grant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the Directorate of Film, Music, and Media of the Ministry of Culture, one project received a <\/span><b>Development Grant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the National Talent Management, and two other selected projects received a <\/span><b>Talent Development Grant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the National Talent Management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three of these projects received a <\/span><b>Development Grant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which supports the project&#8217;s development, while the other two projects received a <\/span><b>Talent Development Grant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a grant given to individuals with talent in order to support them developing their projects. This film, which previously won an award at the 2024 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venice Film Festival<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has a special connection to Jakarta Film Week, as <\/span><b>Yulia Evina Bhara<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a mentor of the Producers Lab, also served as a co-producer on the film. The screening of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t Cry, Butterfly<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provided a perfect ending, drawing extended applause from the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Family Program and Other Collaborations<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the Closing Ceremony, the final day of Jakarta Film Week was filled with exciting family activities thanks to a collaboration with <\/span><b>Pinkfong. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The screening of <\/span><b>Bebefin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and activities like <\/span><b>face painting, temporary tattoos, and colouring<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> entertained families attending the festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The festival also featured a collaboration with the <\/span><b>Directorate of Film, Music, and Media of the Ministry of Culture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the <\/span><b>Family Time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> screening program, showcasing <\/span><b>Desa Timun (Indonesiana TV),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a program focused on family-friendly content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jakarta Film Week 2024 concluded with gratitude and hopes for a brighter future for Indonesian cinema.
