Hundreds of audiences packed <\/span><b>Starium 2 of CGV Grand Indonesia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to watch <\/span><b><i>You Will Die in 6 Hours<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, directed by <\/span><b>Lee Yoon Seok<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and starring <\/span><b>Jae Hyun NCT<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and actress <\/span><b>Park Ju Hyun<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Released in South Korea on October 16<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this year, the film successfully captured the attention of the Jakarta audience and became one of the highlights during the festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the third day of Jakarta Film Week, the JFW NET program became a major attraction in addition to film screenings. JFW NET served as a vital platform connecting national and international filmmakers to share knowledge and ideas and foster global collaboration opportunities. The program invited guests from Southeast Asia, Asia, and Europe, including filmmakers, producers, distributors, and film festival organizers, to engage in discussions, provide training, and expand professional networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Gayatri Nadya<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Festival Manager of Jakarta Film Week, emphasized the importance of JFW NET as a collaboration hub: &#8220;The JFW NET programs aim to promote and strengthen the circulation of the film industry while serving as a hub for filmmakers, be it beginners or professionals, to expand the potential for national and international collaboration. We hope the sustainability of each program will take Indonesian filmmakers to the global stage through sustainable capacity building,&#8221; she explained. Gayatri also expressed her hopes for Jakarta Film Week and JFW NET in the coming years to grow sharper, more sustainable, and beneficial for everyone involved in the film ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The enthusiasm for JFW NET was evident in the three <\/span><b>Masterclass<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sessions that delved into various aspects of film production, including <\/span><b>scriptwriting, directing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>editing.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Scriptwriting session was led by <\/span><b>Kim Min Ha<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Idiot Girls<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School Ghost: School Anniversary<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who shared a unique formula she often uses when writing scripts. \u201cThink of our characters as mentos candies meeting soda; the sweet character, like the candy, must encounter certain situations, like soda, to create an explosive story,\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Directing Masterclass was presented by <\/span><b>Sabrina Rochelle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Indonesia and <\/span><b>Ho Miu Ki,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Love Lies<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while the Editing session was presented by <\/span><b>Nick Cheuk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who is the director, writer, and editor of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Time Still Turns The Pages<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, alongside <\/span><b>Kelvin Nugroho<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><b>Indonesian Film Editors Association (INAFEd).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These Masterclasses in Directing and Editing were part of a collaboration with the <\/span><b>Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETO).<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>Producers Network<\/i><\/b><b>: Collaboration for the Future of Indonesian Cinema<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the key events on the third day was the <\/span><b>Producers Network<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a program designed to promote collaboration opportunities and professional networking among film industry professionals. Held in partnership with <\/span><b>Adhya Pictures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this event brought together young Indonesian filmmakers to connect with producers, investors, and potential stakeholders from both domestic and international markets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This invitation-only event for the Indonesian film industry became a platform for filmmakers to network and discuss film projects that could reach out to international audiences. In this session, Adhya Pictures also shared updates on their upcoming and work-in-progress film projects until 2025, such as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forza<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a football-themed film) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yakin Nikah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (an adaptation of a successful YouTube series), as well as other titles that are projected for development throughout 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Program and Film Screening Highlights<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On its third day, Jakarta Film Week also showcased several feature films. Among them were screenings of <\/span><b><i>Twilight of The Warrior<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>The Remnant<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a compilation of Hong Kong short films titled <\/span><b><i>I Have Arrived<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Mamamoo<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Overman<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><i>Breathe Without Water<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which are part of a collaboration with the <\/span><b>Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETO)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The presence of directors <\/span><b>Yan Yan Mak<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I Have Arrived<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), <\/span><b>Frankie Lee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mamamoo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), and <\/span><b>To Chin Him<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overman<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) added to the excitement of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These three filmmakers shared insights through the themes they explored, which were closely related to children. <\/span><b>I Have Arrived<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is inspired by the issue of mindful parenting, <\/span><b>Mamamoo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reflects the fear of the disappearance of interspecies relationships, while <\/span><b>Overman <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">portrays children\u2019s dreams of becoming superheroes like Ultraman. \u201cBut as we grow up, we realize that being like Ultraman is not a realistic goal,\u201d said To Chin Min, director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overman<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to that, audiences also enjoyed screenings of other international collaborative films, including <\/span><b>Sun of The Sun<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Bride Stone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which were part of a partnership with <\/span><b>Alternativa,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Heresy (Witte Wieven) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the Netherlands, shown in collaboration with <\/span><b>Erasmus.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With such a diverse lineup of programs, Jakarta Film Week 2024 continues to attract the audiences and confirms its position as a crucial platform for both local and international filmmakers.
