These are the titles showcased on that day:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nun or Never!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Finland, 2023)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Percebes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Portugal, France, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It Shouldn\u2019t Rain Tomorrow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Portugal, German, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Night at the Rest Area<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Japan, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trumpet Voice<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Chile, 2023)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Circle <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(South Korea, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Skytrain<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Canada, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Indonesia, 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daisy <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Spain, 2023)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Car That Came Back from the Sea<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Switzerland, 2023)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the screening, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">received the audience\u2019s attention, because it is the only Indonesian short animated film feature in the Global Animation Short Competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a short animated film about the climate and environmental issues festering in areas prone to forest and land fires, particularly areas in Kalimantan. This issue is disseminated in the eyes of a mother and wife from Central Kalimantan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Riri Royanto, expresses her reason for exploring this issue in a short animated film, \u201cSo far, the issue of fires has only been treated as statistical data, but we hardly see the social conditions underlying these cases.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This issue is considered rather complex and universal, with problems such as improper or slow approaches and treatments, a challenging field to navigate, and limited resources. Riri Royanto perceives the threat of forest fires does not only loom over Kalimantan, but also many other parts of the world. With constant endangerment, local communities in those areas are hoped to possess sufficient knowledge on how best to cope with fires.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equipped with firsthand experience in areas at risk of forest and land fires, Riri Riyanto witnesses a few problems arise as a result of fires, which then inspire her to make this short animated film with the purpose of raising people\u2019s awareness on this subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn its capacity as a short film medium, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">quite effectively raises awareness in communities, but it isn\u2019t enough and we mustn\u2019t stop there. We must also make other strategic campaigns to further urge people to care about this issue,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am very pleased to know that this short film is competing in Jakarta Film Week and is representing Indonesia in its compilation. I\u2019m also happy that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignited <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">got the opportunity to reach a wider audience through these screenings,\u201d lanjutnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She adds that all the other short animated films featured in the Global Animation Short Competition screenings are equally as interesting and important in their contributions to the issues they are raising, the development of their plots, and visual aspects.
